Pina<br /><br />(I believe that "Boonmee" is, technically speaking, an unreleased film in Australia but seeing as it's my favourite film of the last decade I'm just going to ignore that.)<br /><br />Notable films missed: Mad Bastards, Rise of the Planet of the Apes, Potiche, Moneyball, The Tall Man, The Future, Beginners, Senna, Rango, Burning Man, The Guard<br /><br />Looking at the list of widely praised films that I managed to miss you'd think I was hardly in the cinema at all but I'd like to think it reflects that many of my filmic highlights were from yesteryear; the best of which was seeing almost all of Dreyer's filmography for free and with live accompaniment. In particular I marvelled at <i>Vampyr's</i> use of shadow, hair-raising trailing tracking shots and gruesome deaths and wondered why more modern horror filmmakers don't cite it as a key influence.GlenHhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05148358447968029801noreply@blogger.com
